NARUC Water Committee Chairman John E. Howard

NARUC Names New Water Committee Chairman
Commissioner John E. “Butch” Howard, vice chairman of the South Carolina Public Service Commission has been named chairman of the NARUC Water Committee.
Vice Chairman Howard assumed his commissionership on March 4, 2004, and was elected vice chairman in July 2008.

NARUC Elects New President
Vermont Public Service Board Commissioner David Coen has been elected president of the National Association or Regulatory Commissioners. Commissioner Coen replaces outgoing President Frederick Butler of New Jersey, whose term expired Nov. 18. Under the NARUC Constitution, association presidents serve one-year terms.

Secretary Napolitano Meets with Water Sector
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano hosted the first in a series of roundtable meetings with private-sector leaders to discuss critical infrastructure security and unveiled a new Web site designed to inform the public about DHS’ critical infrastructure protection, readiness and resiliency efforts — part of her increased effort to heighten awareness about the importance of protecting America’s vital assets, systems and networks over the coming weeks.

Utilities Inc. Promotes COO Lisa Sparrow to President
Utilities Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Sparrow to president. Sparrow is an extremely talented leader who has served the company since 2002, including three years in her current role as chief operating officer. She replaces outgoing President and CEO Larry Schumacher, who announced his departure in early December. Schumacher’s nearly 18 years of distinguished service with the company helped position Utilities Inc. as a market leader, and his hard work and dedication are dearly appreciated.
