Water Industry Climate Change Group Meets

Representatives of the water industry from the National Association of Water Companies, along with the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA), the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA), the Water Environment Federation (WEF), the National Rural Water Association (NRWA), the Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF), the Water Research Foundation (WRF), and the Water Utility Climate Alliance (WUCA), recently met to discuss association climate change initiatives. Many of the groups are conducting research, panels, working groups, and best practices and case studies on climate change adaptation and mitigation for water utilities.

The working group has convened several times before and has worked on a letter to Congress to stress the importance of water management and considerations in the context of climate change, energy management, and changing wet-weather patterns. The group agreed to meet again to help federal agencies coordinate their research and other climate change related activities.
