NAWC Concludes Another Successful Annual Conference
Amid a stunning scenery of canyons and cactus, the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC) hosted its 113th Annual Conference at the Loews Ventana Canyon Hotel in Tucson, Arizona, from Oct. 10 – 13. With over 400 officials, distinguished guests, environmentalists and water professionals representing all aspects of private water service in attendance, the exchange of ideas during the three-day conference focused on water issues, funding needs, and the innovative solutions being employed to address these challenges across the country.

Indiana Governor Appoints New URC Chairman
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels recently appointed Commissioner Jim Atterholt as chairman of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission following the departure of Chairman David Hardy.
Atterholt was appointed by Daniels on June 22, 2009, to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. Prior to joining the Commission, he was the State Insurance Commissioner for more than four years, where he also served as a member of the Governor’s Cabinet. Chairman Atterholt worked as director of government affairs for AT&T-Indiana from 2003 to 2004.

New WSCC Chair Elected
On Oct. 18, William L. Komianos of American Water was elected chairman of the Water Sector Coordinating Council (WSCC) at its fall meeting in Lafayette, La. Komianos will replace outgoing Chairman Don Broussard of Lafayette Utilities System. Komianos is currently the senior director of operational risk management for American Water, and has more than 30 years experience in environmental health and safety, security ,and holds one of the two WSCC seats assigned to the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC).
