PHILADELPHIA (June 17, 2021) – In response to the Senate’s historic confirmation of Radhika Fox as the head of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Water, National Association of Water Companies President and CEO Robert F. Powelson issued the following statement:
“On behalf of America’s water companies, I am pleased to congratulate Administrator Fox heartily on her historic appointment as the first woman of color and the first person of Asian American descent to lead the EPA’s Office of Water. Between Administrator Fox’s professional experience and her sincere dedication to improving water quality for Americans everywhere, I’m confident that she will be a reliable partner in the EPA as we work towards achieving our values-aligned missions.
During her confirmation hearing, Administrator Fox made a point to declare this as ‘water’s moment,’ which is a sentiment I couldn’t agree with more. While our water infrastructure challenges are plentiful and the need for investment is urgent, America’s water companies stand ready to partner with Administrator Fox in rebuilding America’s water infrastructure for the benefit of all today and for generations to come.”
