PHILADELPHIA (January 14, 2022) – Robert F. Powelson issued the following statement regarding President Biden’s remarks on the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law:

“NAWC and its member companies couldn’t agree more with President Biden’s call for every American to have access to clean water when they turn on the faucet.

“America’s water companies have been working for more than a century to ensure customers have access to water that is safe, reliable and affordable. NAWC’s 10 largest members alone invest $3.7 billion annually to maintain and improve their systems and the services their customers receive.

“The men and women on the front lines for America’s water companies are friends, neighbors and even family members who are a part of their local communities and are personally invested in ensuring that the water is safe when we turn on our taps.

“NAWC and its members have been vocal in calls for achieving water equity. We will continue our work to advance basic principles — meeting water quality standards, offering customer assistance options, addressing fundamental flaws in our water grid, and investing in infrastructure — that will move closer to guaranteeing everyone has access to safe, reliable water at affordable rates. We welcome the focus on these priorities out of Washington, D.C.”
