(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – The National Association of Water Companies honored Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) with its Water Droplet Award in recognition for her years of dedication and supporting to providing safe, reliable drinking water at affordable rates.

“We are grateful for Senator Shaheen’s efforts to ensure Americans have access to safe, reliable drinking water and wastewater services while maintaining affordability,” said Robert F. Powelson, president and CEO of NAWC. “She has long been a champion of common-sense reforms that protect the health of Americans and bolster our economy.”

Senator Shaheen worked to ensure an income exemption for contributions in aid of construction (CIAC) and government grants was included in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which was signed into law in November 2021.

“Senator Shaheen’s efforts shows an understanding of the role reliable water infrastructure plays in allowing employers to grow and communities to flourish,” Powelson said.
