Decorated retired U.S. Navy Admiral, TV personality to headline NAWC 2022 Water Summit
(PHILADELPHIA) – The National Association of Water Companies (NAWC) will host decorated U.S. Navy Admiral James Stavridis (Ret.) as the keynote speaker for its annual Water Summit.
“Throughout his distinguished service career, Admiral Stavridis exemplified leadership, rising through the Navy ranks to achieve the rank of admiral to becoming Supreme Allied Commander of NATO to best-selling author and television commentator,” said NAWC President & CEO Robert F. Powelson. “With his ability to translate his experience into invaluable lessons for all of us facing life’s tough decisions, we are honored Admiral Stavridis will join us as part of the Water Summit.”
Admiral Stavridis attended the U.S. Naval Academy, spending 37 years in the Navy, retiring as a 4-star Admiral. In addition to being the 16th Supreme Allied Commander at NATO, Admiral Stavridis commanded the U.S. Southern Command, Miami. He has earned more than 50 U.S. and international medals and decorations, including 28 from foreign nations.
After leaving the miliary, Admiral Stavridis served as dean of The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, the school where he earned his PhD. A bestselling author according to the New York Times, his most recent book “To Risk it All” his bookshelves in May. Admiral Stavridis is Vice Chair, Global Affairs of The Carlyle Group and Chair of the Board of Trustees, Rockefeller Foundation. He also is a contributing editor for TIME Magazine and Chief International Security and Diplomacy Analyst for NBC News.
